I’ve had some concerned parents ask about the examples I gave in the Reading Journal Grading Rubric. Please don’t be concerned, because I’m not expecting the students to journal like myself, but I want them to have something to shoot at. I don’t want to set the bar too low. I am grading them on the agreed upon number of items in each rubric category, and I am grading them on their grade level skills. In other words I’m not expecting a 5th grader to journal at a High School level.
